How to Choose the Right Egg Donor Clinic to Donate Eggs in South Africa
If you are ready to become one of a special group of women who are willing to donate a few of their eggs so another woman can experience the joy of having her own child, you will also be ready to decide which fertility or egg donor clinic you will select for your egg donation.
It is an important decision. For this reason, our team at Cape Fertility Egg Donor Program have compiled a list of questions you should ask before you decide.
As we have been leading the way in egg donation since 1993, we also give you our answers to each question.
Our Premium Egg Donation Program has a large pool of high-quality donors within an excellent legal framework. For the last 27 years we have worked with thousands of egg donors in a friendly, relaxed and caring environment at our advanced, purpose-built facilities in the beautiful city of Cape Town.
Your care is our priority and attention to your medical safety during the donation process is our primary concern when you donate through our premium Cape Fertility Egg Donor Program.
1. Is the fertility or egg donor clinic accredited?
Make sure that the fertility or egg donation clinic you choose is accredited by the Southern African Society for Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecological Endoscopy (SASREG). Visit the SASREG website www.fertilitysa.org.za/ to check if the clinic you are considering is registered.
Cape Fertility is not only registered and accredited with SASREG, we are also a driving force for ethical fertility treatment in South Africa. We are very proud that our chairman, Dr Sulaiman Heylen, serves as the President of SASREG.
2. Are the clinic’s fertility specialists qualified and experienced?
The fertility or egg donation clinic you choose should be staffed by experts in fertility.
At Cape Fertility, we have several highly-qualified fertility specialists who are also impressively experienced, and supported by a dedicated team of IVF co-ordinators, embryologists, a psychologist available to provide additional counselling and even a Egg Donor Fairy God Mother and her team who are dedicated solely to taking the best care possible of our egg donors.

5. What do the fertility or egg donation clinic’s other donors say?
The comments, feedback and testimonials of a fertility or egg donation clinic’s other donors will also give you a good idea of what you can expect when choosing a fertility or egg donation clinic.
This is what some of our Cape Fertility egg donors say:
“I would like to thank everyone at the Cape Fertility who are so supportive and caring the service is so good and they make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in the door. This is the most wonderful feeling ever to know that you are helping a couple that really wants to start a family. To know that you are making a couple’s dream come true. I’m really proud of myself for doing this for the second time. It is an awesome feeling and if there are women out there that want to help a couple start a family, believe me this is an awesome feeling and you feel proud of yourself for caring and helping a couple.”
“All round it was a wonderful experience and Cape Fertility really do the extra mile when caring for the donors. The concern from the caregivers are sincere and warm. Dr Oosthuizen was a blessing, she always made me feel supported and involved in the medical side of things. Through all four of my donation cycles, I felt informed, respected and very well taken care of. I am so grateful for the opportunity to help others achieve their dreams of becoming parents. Egg donation is a serious commitment but it’s also a priceless gift to give a childless couple. I feel so honoured to have been chosen to have this pivotal role in creating new life.”
